Let's Get Personal - week 3 of portfolio project month

This week, via the same method I used in week 1, I fleshed out three more full-size creatures for poster designs. I’ll be proceeding with lining and coloring the sketches starting tomorrow. I’ve lined up the rough sketches below.

I was up near Philly this past weekend, and I had a really great time seeing my college friends (plus they have a dog, a nova scotia duck tolling retriever, and I absolutely love dogs). It was chilly outside, but there’s way too many cute little shops to visit in Haddonfield to stay inside. Lots of spiced bourbon apple cider, movie marathons on the living room couch, and of course, catching up. In fact, I enjoyed my time so much that I didn’t get the chance to do any sketching while I was there. Oops!

Here’s another wrench in my machine: I had six smaller sketches nearly completed for tonight’s deadline. They looked good. Then I had to go and spill soup on them. Now I have to redraw them, begrudgingly, but there’s nothing else I can do. Guess that’s my luck.

It’s been a weird couple of days.

My Redbubble account is pretty much set up. All I need to do at this point is keep adding stuff so there’s more options to peruse. This isn’t a difficult part of the project at all, but it is rewarding. The marketing of my project is still proving to be the most challenging part. I’m still utilizing Facebook, Twitter. I’m updating my website to one that allows ecommerce, as well, either tonight or tomorrow.

Next week, the last week of portfolio project month, will be filled with lots of research and marketing. There’s no guarantee that my outreach will result in anything, but it never, ever, hurts to experiment. I’m hoping I won’t get disheartened if I don’t end up selling anything.
